The Joy of Contracts - How to Make the Experience Win-Win for you & your Clients

dayle_laing_speaking_contracts_200Many design professionals are either not using interior design contracts or are unhappy with the ones they are using.

Dayle received numerous questions from colleagues about using contracts. Some had expressed concern after situations with clients had soured when there was discord over verbal agreements. After 15 years teaching Business Practices for Interior Designers at college, Dayle was excited to prepare a seminar to share her experiences and expertise.

Dayle presentedThe Joy of Residential Contracts – How to Make the Experience Win-Win for you & your Clients” at the annual CDECA Professional Development Day in Toronto, Canada on October 29, 2007 to a packed audience of over 100 enthusiastic members.

Professional interior design and interior decoration require...

good solid contracts that protect both designer and consumer. As the legendary movie producer Samuel Goldwyn said, “An oral contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.” A contract in simple language avoids confusion, prevents misunderstanding and sets proper expectations for both parties. Clear clients are happy clients! Happy clients make good decisions that save time, money and result in quality design. Quality design is better for the environment, completing the circle!

joy_of_residential_contracts_200.jpgParticipants left with concrete examples of short and long residential contracts that they could adapt and use in their own practices.

"Dayle is always so knowledgeable and well spoken. A delight to listen to.  Excellent pace!” and “Dayle Laing, excellent presentation. We’d love more seminars.”
